Millions of people upload their bike rides and runs to Strava, the social network forathletes, every week via their smartphone or GPS device. Strava Metro anonymizes andaggregates this data into GIS format and then partners with researchers, departments oftransportation and city planning groups to improve infrastructure for bicyclists andpedestrians. Metro data enables deep analysis of cyclist and pedestrian activityincluding popular or avoided routes, peak commute times, intersection wait times, andorigin/destination zones.
